MEDworld – MEDworld is an all-volunteer organization designed to collect and recycle unused medical supplies that would otherwise be discarded. The materials they collect are sent to developing countries where they can be used in clinics and hospitals servicing the poor.  Contact MEDworld to take some supplies with you on your international trip!


Office of International Activities – UNC School of Medicine’s Office of International Activities (OIA) supports, promotes, publicizes, and coordinates activities, accomplishments, and opportunities in global health and international medical education of the School’s medical students, house staff/residents and faculty.

Center for Global Initiatives – The Center for Global Initiatives is a catalyst for the innovative work of faculty and students at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  It is entrepreneurial and nimble in its approach to fostering initiatives that deepen knowledge and understanding of our complex world. For its work, the Center is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of only eleven National Resources Centers in Global Studies.

Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) – UNC-CIBER is a critical partner in realizing UNC’s commitment to educate new generations of skilled, globally-aware individuals who are capable of leading change in a highly global environment.

Global Research Institute – The Global Research Institute, a center for scholarly research on key global issues at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, also serves as a channel through which knowledge can be circulated and applied to real world problems.  Research fellowships are granted annually on a competitive basis for scholarship on targeted themes, bringing together both talented faculty members at UNC and distinguished visiting scholars to collaborate on the most pressing global challenges facing North Carolina and the world.

Kenan Institute of Private EnterpriseThe Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise offers research, educational programs and strategic planning to help companies and communities achieve their economic goals.

  • Kenan Institute Asia – The Kenan Institute Asia (K.I.Asia) is a leading Thailand-based, non-profit organization serving the sustainable development needs of Thailand, as well as Cambodia, Vietnam, and Lao PDR.

Office of Global Health – The Office of Global Health (OGH) coordinates global health activities at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. We actively support faculty, staff, and students in their efforts to improve the health of the world’s populations, and facilitate interdisciplinary global health research, teaching, and practice across all departments and programs in the School. We work in more than 55 countries on topics including clean drinking water, HIV prevention, infant nutrition, Latino health, health systems and management, public health leadership, and domestic violence.
